Ear Tuck – Hattiesburg
Prominent ears are a source of great anxiety for children who are often ridiculed by their classmates. If treated early enough, a lot of this unnecessary harassment can be avoided. The best time to perform the procedure is around 6 to 7 years old when the child is able to cooperate with their postoperative care.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. An Otoplasty is designed to reposition the ears creating a more normal appearance. Incisions are placed behind the ears keeping scars very inconspicuous. Permanent sutures are used to reshape the cartilage. A circumferential head wrap is placed following surgery and remains in place for one week. Afterwards, a headband is worn to protect the ears from trauma while they heal.
