Dr. John Magruder Sullivan III

Dr. John Magruder Sullivan III is a board-eligible Plastic Surgeon and Hand Surgeon. He is a proud Mississippi native where he was born and raised in Jackson. He attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal School before earning dual degrees in Biochemistry and Biology, with a minor in Mandarin Chinese, at the University of Mississippi as part of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College.

He completed medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, where his early research sparked a strong interest in surgery. Through dedicated mentorship and clinical experience, Dr. Sullivan’s focus turned toward plastic and reconstructive surgery. During medical school, he earned numerous honors, including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Dr. Sullivan matched into the highly competitive Integrated Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Over six years of rigorous training, he developed broad expertise in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. In his final year, he was selected for an embedded Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship, further refining his skills in this complex subspecialty.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Sullivan remains active in research, contributing to numerous publications and presenting at national and international surgical meetings. He is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care informed by the latest advances in the field.

Outside of work, Dr. Sullivan enjoys spending time with his wife Tara, their two daughters, and their two dogs.
